It all started with vinyl records in the mid 1800’s and due to a lack of research remained the preferred format until eight track tapes came online in the 1960’s. Eight track tapes brought in a new era and stayed popular until the 70’s.

Since the 1980s the way we travel with our music has come a long way. Many no doubt remember the portable Walkman that used cassettes and which was made by Sony. The Walkman made it possible for joggers, travelers and just about anyone who wanted to carry their music and other taped sound with them wherever they went.
